Abstract
This dataset represents historical oil and gas well data in Idaho. These files include information on past oil and gas exploration wells in Idaho provided by companies to the Oil and Gas Commission from 1903-1988. This data was transferred to the Idaho Geological Survey in 2009 from the Idaho Department of Lands.
Purpose
Identify and show historical oil and gas well data in Idaho. Well data is from 1903-1988.
Supplementary Information
The Idaho Geological Survey maintains files on over one hundred fifty oil and gas wells in the state. Some files contain drilling service reports, geophysical logs, geologic logs, correspondence, PI cards, and lease maps. Most are one-of-a-kind documents, and many are in fragile condition. Available files are organized by IGS no. These files have been scanned and are available at IGS.

Wells were plotted on a 1:24,000 base using measurements provided in sundry reports and applications. Well locations were visually compared to elevations, historical maps, or verbage related to each well. Locations are approximate, users should refer to GEN_LOC attribute for additional location information.
