LPRV Aquifer Management: Introduction

Effective management of a ground water resource translates to making the underground water supply sustainable: that is, ensuring it will meet future demand in terms of capacity and will be safe to drink without expensive treatment. Such management involves three important segments of a community:

Public awareness of where and how drinking water comes from; Political guidance to bridge the gap between public needs / demands and the water managers who manage the resource; and Technical support to provide water managers with the kind of information they need to manage the resource, as well as to provide information to the public to close the awareness / guidance / information loop.
