|Currently, a number of conditions have come together to assist Idaho communities in general, and this community in particular, to achieve aquifer protection if they so decide. In order to answer the most pressing questions from political leaders and representatives of local commerce and industry on the economic implications of aquifer protection, a special legislative appropriation was obtained by Representative Roger Chase to fund an Economic Impact Analysis of the projected costs and benefits of adopting enhanced protection measures compared to not adopting such measures. The results of this study, the first phase of which was completed in May, 2001, provide important information on which all sectors of the community can base decisions as to how to proceed.
