Annual Review of the Idaho Mining Industry

Every year the Idaho Geological Survey reports on developments in the state's metallic and nonmetallic mining industry. To prepare the reports, the Survey visits major projects and compiles information from over a hundred government and industry sources. The report is released each year in December and presented at the annual convention of the Northwest Mining Association held in Spokane, Washington. A report on the state's exploration activity is published annually in the May issue of Mining Engineering, a popular industry journal. With the closing of U.S. Bureau of Mines in 1996, the Survey has taken on the responsibility of collecting this important economic data. The Survey is frequently the first contact of individuals and companies starting mineral exploration in the state.
