The Idaho Geological Survey (IGS) curates thousands of historical images and generates new images every year through regular activities such as field mapping, outreach activities, conferences, and field trips. These images inform geologic maps and other publications, as well as feature a wide scope of subjects of interest including individuals, documentation of landslide and earthquake events, mining activity, artifacts, and geologic features to name a few.
This pilot project is currently underway to provide a centralized catalog to deliver images that can be discovered by their attributes and metadata.
