These dBase files contain geochemical data as reported by the Analytical Sciences Laboratory (Holm Research Center) of the University of Idaho. The data has not been modified in any way. The samples that have U of I lab numbers ending in A are unfiltered samples on which the total metals screen was done. The samples that have U of I lab numbers ending in B are filtered samples on which the dissolved metals screen was done. The analytical results are reported in the following units: Water samples: Total Recoverable Metal Screen (EPA 200.7) -- mg/L (milligrams per liter) = ppm Dissolved Metal Screen (EPA 200.7) -- µm/mL (micrograms per milliliter) = ppm Lead (EPA 239.2), Arsenic (EPA 206.2), and Mercury (ICP, Cold Vapor) -- µg/L (micrograms per liter) = ppb Soil samples (dump samples and tailings samples): Element Screen (EPA 3050) -- µg/g (micrograms per gram) = ppm TCLP (Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure, EPA 1311) -- µg/L (micrograms per liter) = ppb Sample numbers: All water, tailings, and dump samples were assigned unique numbers. These were constructed according to the following system: 1) an initial letter code (usually the first letter of the last name) identifying the person who took the sample; 2) one or two digits for the month (some sample numbers contain a leading zero); 3) two digits for the date on which the sample was taken; 4) the last two digits in the year in which the sample was taken (i.e., "97," if the samples was taken in 1997); and 5) one to three digits, including leading zeros, identifying the individual sample. Site numbers for properties that did not have a database identification number assigned to them were generated in the same manner.
